valentine for b

This was an interesting card to make. I created the card around the embellishment. When I saw the package with the stackable metal pieces a few weeks ago, with one of them saying "I love you" in French, I knew it was what I wanted for B's valentine. It took me a while to figure out what to do with the layout. I got inspiration from a wedding card on Splitcoaststampers.

Target $1 frames

I made these for the girls at work for Valentine's Day, because they like to have photos of their "men" on their desks. J has tons of pictures of her son, the "monkeyman." They started out as plain metal frames with weak glitter heart magnets from the $ Spot at Target. I replaced the magnets with stronger ones to hold a photo through the paper I covered the frames with.

The photos don't do the colors of the papers justice. They're much more vibrant in person.

christmas tag boxes

I've finally gotten around to downloading the images from my digital camera. Here are the tag boxes I made for the girls at work for Christmas. I filled them with Hershey's nuggets in assorted flavors.

Finished size: each tag is 2.875" x 4.5", the box is 2.875" square x 4.5" tall

Not shown: the mini tags in the pockets have a sentiment and to/from. I forgot to photograph them before I gave them away.

I wanted to do a RAK (random act of kindness) for my boss because we've had a rough time with the big bosses lately.

Note to self: Don't use the Xyron on cutouts with holes. The glue boogers are almost impossible to remove and the end result is not so pretty (ref: "laugh often").

mod circles

Here's a "no occasion" card I put together pretty quickly (at least for me!) the other day. I love the "mod" look. I have no plans for a recipient, so I'll put it in my pitifully small stash.

catching up & Stampin' Up!

I haven't been keeping up with posting as well as I thought I would. I've made a few cards here and there, but just don't ever get around to uploading them. Well, they might make it to my flickr account, but it's the posting the details here that I'm slow on.

I love, love, love the valentine I made this past weekend. I still have to take a photo of it before I can upload or post it. It is sort of 3-d, so I don't want to scan it because I'll lose the effect. But since I'm photo-phobic, I'm not sure when I'll get to taking its picture. Maybe this weekend, especially if I want to get it in the mail.

Well, I finally got the nerve up to look for a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in my area. You have to fill out information at the SU! website and then they give you a list of demos in your area. I got a list of 5. The top person on the list, Amanda, had a website with SU! When I checked it out, she had activities and classes on her calendar, and she held some of them at her "stamp pad." There was another listing with a website, but no activities on that person's calendar. So I stepped out of my shell for a bit and emailed Amanda. She responded right away! After a few back and forth emails, we decided to meet up the next day. After 3 hours of hanging at her house and chatting, while she showed me tons of samples from SU!, I think I'm hooked and I have a new stamping friend. The best part? She lives only 5 minutes from my house! I placed my first order with her that night and now I can't wait to get it. I've also been perusing the catalog and have marked a ton of other stuff that I want. It's a bit expensive, though, so I'm trying to set up a workshop with some friends and family with the hope of earning free stuff. Should be fun if I can get it together.

first altered notebook

Here is my first altered item, a cat-themed notebook I sent to a friend of mine for her birthday. I had planned to do a lot more with this notebook, but I ran out of steam and time. Note to self, I made my own "chipboard" by layering 6 cutouts of the "k" in black before topping with the colored cardstock. I got the instructions for altering a matching pen from here.
