valentine 1

Here is my first valentine. It took me 4 sessions to finish this card, finally ending it with what seemed like divine inspiration upon waking Saturday morning. I had tried a technique I saw in a magazine which didn't work out so well with the embossed background. The paper ended up ripping. I had to either cover up the rips or start over. I decided to continue on and make it work. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches
Cardstock: DCWV
Heart brads: Making Memories
Cuttlebug folders: D'vine Swirls A2
Cricut: George primitive heart, 2", and tag, 1"; Mini Monograms scalloped circle, 2.5"; Beyond Birthdays love, 1"
ink: silver, Colorbox Old Rose

out with the old

Once upon a time, back in March when we moved into our new place, I ordered free catalogs for a bunch a home furnishing/decorating companies - Room & Board, Design Without Reach, Crate & Barrel, CB2, etc. I'd flip through them and drool over what my home could look like. But I never bought a thing. I could never decide on a style and everything was pretty much out of my budget.

I got the latest catalog from Crate & Barrel in the mail the other day. Instead of looking through it right away like I used to, it sat on the counter for 2 days before I decided to give it a browse. I flipped through it quickly and tossed it in the trash. Nothing was worth a second look or even "how much is it" wonder.

But when the girls over at the Cricut message boards post new online scrapbook stores or their finds at the big box stores (J's, M's, WM, etc), I'm as quick as can be to check them out and my money (or plastic) starts burning a hole in my pocket. I'm still drooling over papers, though not so much the embellishments right now. I want every selection of Basic Grey paper I can get my hands on. But it's not cheap, so I haven't bought as much as I could. I think I might just break down and buy some of the older collections that I've seen on sale online. But I'll try to wait another day to see if I still want them.

What I never had with my interior design phase, however, were the dreams... I dream about paper, layouts, embellishments. I wake up knowing I was dreaming about them and then the mind starts going and I want to get up to go play. I have to keep reminding myself that I need sleep more. It's a sickness, I tell ya.

tote

For some reason, I love this tote bag I found online. I'm thinking it would be a nice way to carry stuff home from the scrapbook store. :) At 13" x 13", it's a perfect fit for 12x12 papers. I also really like that it is handmade by another crafter.

see it here

Too bad I've spent way too much money lately. I really can't justify buying this beautiful bag.

But I have noticed I've been favoring colors similar to the ones in this bag for my paper choices lately. Not a color combination I would have thought I'd like.
